Work to enhance the appearance of the Crossgate and Westoe Road junction in the town has now been completed following a South Tyneside Council plan to improve the area.
The redevelopment work, which started in April, has seen trees and shrubs planted in stone-edged raised beds on the corner of the junction, which sits next to bar The Cask Lounge.
Landscaping and paving has also been put in place, with a pathway running in between, as part of improvements to the area, which is opposite South Shields town hall.
The work was part of a council plan to enhance the empty space which was formerly occupied by estate agent PDQ Homes in Charlotte Terrace.
