Lorain City Hall got a spring cleaning and new greenery from Alvarado Landscaping.
New bushes and evergreens were planted along the building facades along West Erie Avenue and Broadway starting April 22.
The crew removed old vegetation, leveled the front yard of 200 W. Erie Ave. and dug in the new plants over two days.
The contract cost $17,000 and City Hall will become part of the maintenance rotation for the Lorain-based Alvarado Landscaping Inc. & Garden Center, said Public Property Manager Lori Garcia.
For several years, city leaders have talked about sprucing up the drab exterior at the City Hall corner of West Erie Avenue and Broadway, Garcia said.
