
Hendersonville City Council Monday unanimously agreed to rezone property that gives a historic restoration and new development project the green light.
The Cedars, a historic hotel on Seventh Avenue West, will be restored and two six-story buildings will be built on the site to create The Cedars Lodge and Spa.
At least two stories of the current four-story, 15,310-square-foot hotel will be restored. The new buildings will house 11 hotel rooms and 132 hotel suites/condos as well as underground parking decks for condo owners.
Hotel guests will valet park, and there will be 217 parking spaces. Project architect Tamara Peacock said last week that 64 parking spaces will be public.
The city’s Planning Board approved the project in December. The project didn’t need approval from City Council aside from rezoning.
