NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio — Earlier this month, City Council members decided that a Halloween House Decorating contest was just what was needed to conjure up community spirit.
Council President Paul Marnecheck, along with the six other council members, initiated the neighborhood contest since so many other community events had to be canceled this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Around 30 homes participated in this family-friendly event.
Each council member had the job of picking a winner in their ward. Then, Marnechek had the difficult chore of choosing the citywide winner. This honor went to the Margevicius family, whose fun-filled Halloween house is located at 9421 Potomac Drive.
Trophies — personally funded by the council members and not the city — were given to all six winners.
